Look out Trick-or-Treaters, this house has got style! If you’re searching for a guide to developing your own elegant fall exterior, or just composition inspiration, look no further! In this post, we will discuss 6 simple steps to putting together your own elegant fall exterior that will have all passersby in awe.
1. Pick a Color Scheme
Picking a color scheme for your exterior will help keep it looking classy and put together! You could go for fool-proof classics like white and gold, warm autumnal shades of orange, or a combination that will be an elegant compliment to your house’s color (such as the purple and white shown below).
2. Pick your pumpkins
Pumpkins are a must for any fall exterior! Let the color scheme you chose in the previous step guide you to making your selections. Not finding the perfect pumpkin? Create your own! There so many great pumpkin hacks out there, like this one with sequins and this one with tissue paper.
3. Create a pumpkin topiary
This is an easy DIY project to add simple elegance and a beautiful touch of fall to your home’s exterior. It’s as simple as stacking the pumpkins up on each other, and then decorating the gaps!
4. Bring in natural elements
To go along with your pumpkins, choose additional natural elements that will complement their color scheme, as well as bring that elegant fall feeling to your exterior. You can never go wrong with mums, as they practically scream “fall” and are a beautiful addition to any entrance (plus, they are pretty low maintenance)! Corn, wheat stalks or small bales of hay, are a neutral yet festive addition as well.
5. Add lighting
Lighting is essential for a fall exterior. It brings a feeling of warmth to your set-up, plus helps guide anxious Trick-or-Treaters to your door. Lanterns, fairy lights, or the pumpkins themselves, are all great ways to incorporate elegant lighting to your exterior.
6. Top it off with a wreath and garland
A festive wreath and garland that ties in with your exterior theme will bring everything together harmoniously!
